The Q-Clearance paintings are inspired by early atomic weaponry (specifically "Fat Man") and testing images. It is interesting to note that the bomb shape itself somewhat resembles the mushroom cloud, when rotated tip up. The bomb shape in these images may also be read as an aperture space, as though looking through a window. Q-Clearance refers to top secret security clearance at the D.O.E.
